bachakademie@school – the Stuttgart International Bach Academy's youth programme

Based on the conviction that both active and passive examination of music can be rewarding in itself, useful for developing character, and also exciting for children and youths, the Bach Academy has developed music mediation events for this group over the course of the last season, and it is now able to look back on very resonant feedback: over 1,000 students from 30 different schools participated in these events during the last season. Creativity and willingness to experiment stand in the foreground of our educational formats. This includes unconventional forms such as the work of student moderators, who explain the process as 'experts', or continuous participation in school classes over the course of multiple months in the form of composition workshops.

Excerpts from the programmes of the academy concerts are presented via moderated events within the context of the DUX & COMES programme. Entertainment and educational enrichment are the order of the day, and a fascinating live music experience can also be expected. A training seminar in advance provides teachers with material for their lessons. JOJO is the Bach Academy's activity programme. Classes from all types of schools develop their own compositions and sound landscapes under the direction of concert educators according to a set theme or with regard to specific works that are relevant to the project. It's exciting to experience how grade schoolers are able to produce poetic texts and pieces of music, how concentrated high schoolers are able to work together to realise their projects, and how skillfully young artists are able to design and present within the context of an advanced music course.
