The Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart was founded in 1981 by Helmuth Rilling. With its ensembles, the Gächinger Kantorei and the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, it has become an internationally-recognised byword for high-quality musical performances and for communicating music. The annual programme of academy concerts (Akademiekonzerte) in Stuttgart features six great oratorios, our subscription series which is presented in the Beethoven Hall of the Liederhalle. The Stuttgart Bach Week (Bachwoche Stuttgart) is devoted to the work of Johann Sebastian Bach as a genuine academy that offers master's courses, seminars, informative concerts, and special productions featuring a special focus on the oratorios and cantatas. The most significant event is ultimately the Musikfest Stuttgart in September, which sets the stage for Stuttgart's culture season by hosting a world-class international classical music festival.
