New chairman of the board
The Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Bachakademie have appointed the lawyer Dr. Thomas Klötzel as Chairman and Mr Johannes Marten, Head of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Board Staff at the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, as Vice Chairman. Thomas Klötzel was appointed on 15 April 2020 following the death of Helmut Nanz. We congratulate them on their new positions and look forward to working with them!
Thomas Klötzel says, “in the words of Bach’s cantatas, BWV 132 ‘Bereitet die Wege, bereitet die Bahn’ and BWV 147 ‘Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben’ aptly describe my guiding principles.” For him, it means that in his honorary position he will continue to work with the Bachakademie and its team, his fellow committee members and the board of trustees, looking with confidence to the future through the particular challenges of the Corona pandemic and whatever challenges lie ahead in the future.
Klötzel and Marten see the consistent digitization of the Bachakademie and Gaechinger Cantorey’s activities as an essential focus of their future work, plus an intensification of collaboration with other cultural institutions in the city and the wider region. “For us, live concerts will always have top priority” Johannes Marten stresses. “At the same time, we will place a high focus on disseminating the magnificent work of the Bachakademie under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann via digital channels.”
Thomas Klötzel is a partner in the law firm Thümmel, Schütze & Partner. He has been associated with the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart since October 2018 as vice chairman of the board. Johannes Marten trained as a journalist, and has worked as Head of External Communications at Dresdner Bank, Head of Political Communications at Deutsche Bank AG Berlin and as a communications consultant. Since 2016 he has been Managing Director of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Executive Board Office at the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg. A board member of the Bachakademie, Johannes Marten has been Treasurer since 2018.
