"Understanding life with Bach"
The 2023/24 season of the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart will focus on Johann Sebastian Bach's first year in Leipzig. With true fervor, the new Thomaskantor threw himself into the composition and performance of new cantatas beginning on May 20, 1723: Leipzig worshipers heard over sixty pieces of this kind by Trinity Sunday of the following year. Sunday after Sunday, holiday after holiday, Christmas, Easter, Ascension and Pentecost included. Exactly 300 years later, all of these cantatas will be heard in 23 concerts in Stuttgart and the surrounding area with the Gaechinger Cantorey under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann.
Recording of the press briefing on March 22, 2023 on the cantata project VISION.BACH from the Musikhochschule Stuttgart with:
Prof. Hans-Christoph Rademann conductor and initiator of the VISION.BACH project, Dr. Andreas Bomba dramaturg & VISION.BACH project manager, Günter Hänssler CEO of Profil Medien GmbH, Marie Henriette Reinhold soloist (alto) in the VISION.BACH project, Susanne Benda journalist & moderator of the conversation (Production: BildManufaktur GmbH | Organization: Dr. Ute Harbusch | © Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart).
The VISION
VISION.BACH is the name of this ambitious project. VISION, to give an idea of what Bach actually achieved in this short span of time. VISION, because with his music he obviously succeeded in addressing the people who heard it week after week in Leipzig, in illustrating, deepening, interpreting the word of the Gospel with a new, individual art. VISION to think again about this music, about what it has to say to us today in connection with the texts.

This is exactly the VISION of the Bach Academy: to translate Bach's music into our time. For over forty years. So now some sixty cantatas want to be performed by a single ensemble, the Gaechinger Cantorey, under a single conductor, Hans-Christoph Rademann. In the approximate intervals of Bach's practice, in churches of the city of Stuttgart and its surroundings for as many Bach-loving people as possible.
... also on CD!

The recordings of the cantatas appear as a collection of 10 double CDs on the Hänssler Classic label.
